Sight Matters is the operational name of the Manx Blind Welfare Society, a registered charity dedicated to supporting individuals with serious sight loss across the Isle of Man. With a dedicated team supported by over 200 volunteers, the organisation works to enhance the quality of life for more than 600 people living with visual impairment.
Based at its purpose-built headquarters, Corrin Court in Onchan, Sight Matters provides a wide range of services designed to promote independence, inclusion, and wellbeing. These include practical support, training, and social opportunities, all delivered with a strong community focus and commitment to accessibility.
Our Services & Support Include:
- Talking book library for visually impaired users
- Weekly audio news service from an in-house recording studio
- Computer training and digital accessibility support
- Access to specialist equipment and resources
- Weekly social groups and community activities
- Home and hospital visits for personalised support
- Regular social events throughout the year
- Most services provided free of charge (small fee for lunches)
- Funded through donations, fundraising, and legacies
